My name is Patrick Palmersheim. I currently live in Iowa, with my family and many animals. I first met Marty and visited his railroad in 2014 when we moved to Alaska. Orginally found him via this website, well actually the old version. You can read about that story over here.
My passion for model trains can be attributed back to Marty. He helped me learn about the hobby, and gave me place to talk about it. He helped me to build my first layout in the basement of our small house on base at Elmendorf AFB. Learning from his mistakes definitely helped me to have a better start in and enjoy my start instead of fighting it.
Since Marty passed away on 3 December, 2025, this site will be in dedication to him and his memory, and the CSWRR will continue to live on with the help of his good friends. The friends that are still located in Alaska have decided to maintain and continue operating the layout.
When we were in Alaska I also become a member of the Military Society of Model Rail Road Engineers MSMRRE. That club is was located on the Air Force base, and it made it really easy for me make visits after work, or when I was bored. Since leaving, and starting to maintain this website I was offered an honorary membership for my work.
